2007: UK-Brazil Year of Science & Innovation

The UK-Brazil Year of Science & Innovation has the objective of fostering the relationship between Brazilian and British scientific and R&D (Research & Development) communities, aiming at exchanging knowledge and establishing partnerships or co-operation agreements in science, innovation, and technology.

Through a series of events sponsored by the British Government and its Brazilian partners, the activities of the UK-Brazil Year of Science & Innovation are to host British groups such as Research Councils, Universities and research institutes, besides organisations such as the Royal Society and high technology companies that work jointly with universities.

Lectures, workshops, scientific co-operation agreements, and various other activities led by the Science & Innovation (S&I) team of the British Consulate-General will be attended by leading United Kingdom specialists. These activities will be divided into four major themes: Planet Earth, Human Life, Reaching Beyond and Creativity, approaching subjects that cover from climate change to biotechnology and digital media
