A mission from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), British research council responsible for the financing of biotechnology and biological sciences research, will go to Brazil on the week commencing on 10 march ro participate in workshops on bioenergy.
The aim of the mission is to present the works developed in the UK and learn about the Brazilian initiatives on second-generation biofuels. Second-generation biofuels are produced without increase of the planted-area and are made from non-edible crops.
The visit through three Brazilian cities, Brasília, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, will include the organisation of workshops with presentation from members of the delegation and Brazilian experts. The event in São Paulo is already confirmed for March 10, 2008 and is being organised in partnership with FAPESP, the State of São Paulo Research Foundation, responsible for funding research in the State of São Paulo.
